Craft & Heritage

Rooted in the ancient olive groves of Sfax, Olizou unites generational woodworking know-how with organized workshop production for international trade partners.

Workshop story

From Sfax origins to international tables.

A journey from specialized furniture manufacturing to a structured, 25-artisan olive wood atelier serving trade buyers across four continents.

01 Woodworking base

A woodworking foundation

Founded in 2013 by Wassim Zouari, Olizou began with two master artisans. Drawing from his background as a production manager in fine wooden furniture, Wassim instilled rigorous workshop discipline, precision drying, and strict finishing standards from day one.

02 Sfax origin

A natural connection to olive wood

The focus on olive wood was an organic evolution. Native to Sfax, Tunisia’s historic heart of olive cultivation, Wassim chose a timber intertwined with the Mediterranean soil. Dense, naturally antibacterial, and strikingly marbled, olive wood became the bedrock of a dedicated craft manufacturing facility.

03 Workshop growth

A growing workshop

Over the years, Olizou expanded into a structured manufacturing atelier of up to 25 skilled artisans. Today, our multidisciplinary team of men and women balances authentic hand-shaping with streamlined production capacity tailored for wholesale programs.

From material to finished pieces

From responsible timber sourcing to export-ready collections.

Each Olizou piece follows a disciplined manufacturing cycle: ethical timber collection, prolonged open-air curing, artisanal shaping, and certified food-safe finishing.

Step 01

Ethically harvested olive timber

We source exclusively from aged, non-fruit-bearing olive trees in the Sfax region. This preserves living agricultural groves while selecting timber with maximum density and dramatic marbled contrast.

Step 02

Patient natural aging & drying

Raw timber is seasoned naturally for months—and up to years for large monolithic slabs—to thoroughly stabilize internal moisture and prevent future warping or splitting.

Step 03

Precision sculpting & hand-sanding

Artisans calibrate, carve, and progressively hand-sand each object to a silk-smooth touch, respecting the organic contours and structural density of the wood.

Step 04

Natural oil buffing & export readiness

Treated with 100% natural, food-grade botanical oils to nourish the fiber and sealed in export packaging ready for immediate retail distribution or venue deployment.

Workshop standards

A manufacturing standard buyers can trust with confidence.

Olizou equips trade partners with a collection of undeniable visual distinction: deep Mediterranean tones, expressive marbling, and handmade pieces engineered for international market compliance.

An organic point of difference

Every olive wood piece features a singular grain map and warm golden-brown undertones, giving your catalog a distinct visual identity far superior to mass-produced composite or generic woodenware.
